Description

COMSOL Multiphysics Overview

A program for finite element calculations of complex scientific and technical problems. COMSOL Multiphysics allows you to simulate almost all physical processes that are described by partial differential equations. The program contains various solvers that will help you quickly cope with even the most complex problems, and the simple structure of the application ensures ease and flexibility of use. The solution to any problem is based on the numerical solution of partial differential equations using the finite element method. The range of tasks that can be modeled in the program is extremely wide.

COMSOL Multiphysics Features

  • Multiphysics simulation delivers accurate results
  • Follow a consistent modeling workflow
  • Geometric modeling and interaction with CAD software
  • Predefined interfaces and features for physics-based modeling
  • Transparency and flexibility with equation-based modeling
  • Automated and manual meshing
  • Study step sequences, parameter studies, and optimization
  • State-of-the-art numerical methods for accurate solutions
  • Advanced visualization and post-processing tools for publishing-ready simulation results
  • Bridge the gap between analysis, design, and manufacturing by creating simulation applications

System Requirements

Hardware Requirements:

The hardware requirements for COMSOL Multiphysics® include:

  • A working network card and internet connection for installation
  • At least 4 GB of RAM
  • 2–13 GB of disk space, depending on your licensed products and installation options
  • The following processors:
o An Intel® or AMD® 64-bit processor based on the Intel® 64 or AMD64 architecture with the SSE4 instruction set
(Intel® processors released in 2009 or later and AMD® processors released in 2012 or later satisfy this requirement.)
o Apple silicon processors (M1 and later); supported with macOS
    o ARMv8 processors; supported with Linux®

Graphics System Requirements:

COMSOL recommends hardware rendering for performance reasons. Hardware rendering requires drivers that support OpenGL® version 2.1 or later. Windows® operating system users may also use DirectX® version 9.
To use all rendering features available when Optimize for Quality is set in the Graphics preferences, graphics memory of 2 GB or more is recommended.
