Description
Mathworks Matlab Overview
A well-known software program for numerical computation, data analysis, and visualization is called MATLAB, which was created by MathWorks. Because of its huge built-in function library, powerful processing capabilities, and user-friendly interface, it has become a standard tool in many scientific and technical domains.
MATLAB’s speed and efficiency in handling big data sets and intricate calculations is one of its main advantages. This is because of its extremely well-optimized core numerical routines and its capacity to leverage remote computing settings and multicore machines.
Additionally, MATLAB includes a large number of built-in functions and toolboxes that can be used to carry out a wide range of tasks, including machine learning, image processing, control system design, and signal processing. These features are updated frequently.
Mathworks Matlab Features
-perform a variety of complex mathematical calculations and heavy

Notes For Linux
For instructions on installing Matlab, see the _ReadmeLin.txt distribution file . Detailed official installation instructions can be found here . I haven’t tested installing all components myself, so feedback is welcome.
After installation, run <matlabfolder>/bin/matlab or look for the icon on the desktop or in the launcher (if you installed it via the helper).
If you don’t need local documentation, you don’t need to download the Matlab2025bLinDocs.iso file. But if you can, download it and try it out!
MafWorks split the installation of MatLab and documentation into two separate installers, so any additional installation of MatLab components requires additional installation of the documentation each time. This is somewhat annoying!
Since Linux is quite good at automation, I decided to try to automate the installation of MatLab documentation after installing MatLab itself or after installing its components. This is the original reason for creating the setup helper . On Ubuntu 20 and 22, the installer UI occasionally glitched in this release, which led to the creation of the ” setup ui ” UI helper. As a result, it can be used not only in cases of problems with the native installer UI… it is perhaps the EASIEST way to install MatLab! You can read about how to use these helpers in the same place, in _ReadmeLin.txt
The point I’m making is that since this is the first release of the helpers, I ask people to be understanding and test them as widely as possible (there are a mountain of Linux distributions—you can’t test everything yourself). This also applies to those pros who don’t need any helpers and are used to doing everything themselves! Such people sometimes stray into very exotic Linux distributions, from which you can’t get feedback any other way… and I think such people can test even on a typical Linux distribution better than regular users!
How do you test the helpers? Well, it’s best to test both. So, for example… first, run the “setup ui” helper, in which you install only Matlab itself (or you can add additional components). After installation, run Matlab, and check that it works and that the local documentation works. Then run the setup wizard without the parameter, in which you deliver the remaining components you need (if you don’t need anything else, then choose something small from the unnecessary ones, say, Curve Fitting – these 10 megabytes will ultimately not affect anything)
Why did the setup wizard suggest running it without a parameter during testing? If you’ve already installed Matlab using any of the wizards into a specific <matlabfolder>, the installed Matlab folder now becomes the default folder (this is convenient, as it saves you from having to re-create the folder… and, more importantly, it prevents you from accidentally installing another Matlab with a slightly incorrect folder name).
Accordingly, running a second wizard without a parameter is for testing this functionality. If this second setup run displays the wrong folder before installation… then exit this setup and run it again, but this time with the <matlabfolder> explicitly specified.
The general principle is that if installation fails with one wizard, try the second one… if both fail, do everything manually, as you always have; the wizards don’t interfere! And based on your test results, don’t hesitate to vote in the top of this giveaway!
Gradually, ideas came to me about how to help people with this… then that… and eventually, the helper’s functionality expanded as much as possible… including, for example, creating an icon on the desktop (and in the launcher), which is available in the native Windows installer, but why isn’t it in the Linux one… and other help-related things (say, in going through the steps inside the installer, with registration, etc.).
If you have any suggestions for improving/developing the helpers, write me a private message (so as not to flood here with discussions not about this distribution, but only about some possible future developments).
If you want to customize the helper’s behavior, copy the setup file to, say, setup2 , and edit setup2 (so we don’t lose you as a seeder). The easiest way to customize it is to set your own default folder… at the very top of the file, enter your own value after the equal sign in the line “DIRMATLABDEFAULT=<matlabfolder>”
