Notes
- The binary is original. I’m sharing it, but you can just as easily download it from the official website. Just make sure you download the same version.
- To use Krisp, you’ll need a krisp.ai account and log in from within the app, as the tablet simply modifies the server response to remove the time limit.
- If the time limit reappears in Krisp after a system reboot, simply restart the app.
- Get the installer from the distribution and don’t update. The tablet won’t work on versions newer than the one in the distribution.
How does the pill work?
1) An additional IP address, 127.0.0.4, is added to the local interface. This is necessary to avoid hogging port 443 on 127.0.0.1.
2) A simple HTTP server written in Python is launched on this IP. It can respond to HTTP requests sent by Krisp. The responses contain information about the active subscription. This HTTP server is added to startup as LaunchDaemon in MacOS.
3) A TLS certificate is generated (on your machine, so no one else has access to it) and added to Keychain Access for HTTPS.
4) Next, the tablet asks you to set the “Always Trust” option in the certificate settings in Keychain Access. This is necessary so that MacOS “recognizes” the fake HTTP server and Krisp will not treat it as its API server.
5) Add an entry to /etc/hosts “127.0.0.4 api.krisp.ai” so that requests to this domain are directed to our fake HTTP server, which runs locally. (Also, analytics.krisp.ai and o248321.ingest.sentry.io so that Krisp doesn’t send unnecessary data to Krisp servers.)
After this, all requests from the Krisp application go to the HTTP server, which runs locally and always reports that there is no time limit on noise reduction.
Most likely, new versions of Krisp will continue to work without problems without tablet updates.

If there are problems with Docker or services that listen on port 443
Important for developers. The fake server listens on port 443 on 127.0.0.4. If you have services on this port on your computer that bind to all IP addresses (ie, “0.0.0.0”), the fake server will fail to start because the port is busy. Similarly, if you first start the fake server and then try to start something that binds to all IP addresses (0.0.0.0), it will fail because of the fake server. The solution is to bind only the required IP for services on port 443. For example, when using Docker, you can bind port 443 only to 127.0.0.1.
Alternatively, simply stop using the pill and uninstall it. See “How to uninstall pill?”
Treatment
Note: The script requires root (sudo). To avoid any mistrust, the tablet is packaged as scripts, so anyone can view the code. Krisp itself can be used from the official website; installation from the included installer is not required.
1) If Krisp is already installed, uninstall it. Install version 2.51.3 either from the “krisp_installer” folder in the distribution or download the required version directly from the Krisp website:
https://cdn.krisp.ai/mp/mn/2.51/mac/Krisp_2.51.3_arm64.pkg
https://cdn.krisp.ai/mp/mn/2.51/mac/Krisp_2.51.3_x64.pkg
Install, run, log in to your account.
2) If you have already installed the activator from previous distributions, manually open “Keychain Access” and delete two certificates: “api.krisp.ai” and “api.krisp.ai.ca”. If they are no longer missing, proceed to the next step.
3) Mount the KrispActivator.dmg file by double-clicking. Open the terminal. Enter the command:Code: cd /Volumes/KrispActivator && sudo ./install.shand press Enter.
4) You may be prompted to install “MacOS command line developer tools” because Python 3 is required to run the HTTP API server for Krisp. In this case, install it. Then return to step 1.
5) Keychain Access will open. Instructions on what to do will appear in the terminal (in English). Or here in Russian:
In Keychain Access, enter “api.krisp.ai” in the search, double-click, open the “Trust” section, select “Always Trust” next to “When using this certificate”, close the window and confirm by entering your password or Touch ID.
6) Repeat step 4 for “api.krisp.ai.ca”
7) (re)launch Krisp and that’s it, your app has no time limit.
How to remove a pill?
1) Run the uninstall.sh script from the distribution.
2) Restart Krisp
