Description
BluffTitler Overview
BluffTitler is a program for creating beautiful 3D text effects and simple animation used in video editing.
The result can be viewed in real time with subsequent export to an image or video format.
All created animation consists of layers that can be modified independently. BluffTitler supports a large number of different layer types: camera, light, text, image, video, plasma, particle, audio, etc.
Layers can be linked to each other to create special effects. The program can be used in conjunction with packages such as: Pinnacle Studio, Sony Vegas, Ulead VideoStudio, MAGIX video deLuxe, Canopus Edius and Adobe Premiere.
BluffTitler Features
There are a total of 12 types of layers available that can be added to a project by selecting them from the Layer menu:
Light – a layer for setting project lighting. The program offers a choice of two types of lighting: Ambient Light and Point Light. The former is more standard and allows you to adjust only the color of the light, while Point Light lets you select the intensity and position of the light source and determine the presence of shadows.
Text – a layer for adding text. Since creating titles is the program’s primary purpose, this layer is considered the primary one. A huge number of parameters are available for text, including font size, transparency, swirl, position, scale, and spacing.
EPS – this layer allows you to add vector objects in EPS format to your project, such as arrows, geometric shapes, etc.
Picture – a layer for adding a background image. Supported formats include BMP, JPG, PNG, TGA, and others. This layer offers a variety of parameters, such as changing opacity, texture repeatability, rotation, and resizing.
Video – a layer similar to the previous one and is used for adding a background video file. The supported file types are ASF, AVI, MPG, MPEG, VOB, QT, and WMV.
Video Capture is a layer that allows you to include video captured from an external source in your project.
Plasma and Particle layers allow you to add pre-made animations with particles and lighting effects to your titles. This could be an image reminiscent of static on a TV screen, fireworks, falling snowflakes, a fountain, etc. Interestingly, these two layers can be used not only as a background but also to decorate other layers. For example, if you add one of them to text, the animation effects will appear inside or around the letters. This way, you can create burning text. To add a Plasma or Particle layer to another layer, use the Attach command in the Layer menu.
Model – a layer offers an interesting option for adding 3D models to your project. The program only supports the .X format. Files of this format can be obtained, for example, by exporting a 3D model from 3ds Max. To do this, you first need to install the free Panda DirectX Exporter plugin. The plugin is only available for 3ds Max versions 6-8.
Scroll is a layer for creating text that moves across the screen at varying speeds and in different directions.
Audio is a layer for adding musical accompaniment to the project. MP3, WAV, and MID formats are supported.
Passe-Partout is a layer that creates frames of various shapes within which effects are animated.
Almost every parameter available in the layer settings can be animated. The program uses keyframe animation. This means that the user specifies the effect parameters in the first and last frames, and the program automatically selects them for all intermediate frames.
Keyframes are displayed on the animation timeline as blue markers. Previously created keyframes can be moved, thereby setting the duration of a particular effect. For example, if the rotation parameter is animated for a text layer, the smaller the distance between keyframes, the faster the text will rotate.
The same applies to the parameters of other layers. For example, keyframes can be used to change lighting intensity, gradually fade a background image (to do this, animate the transparency parameter), and so on. To make it easier to navigate the numerous layer settings, the program adds a + sign next to the parameter that has been modified by the user.
The finished project can be exported to an AVI file with or without compression. You can also specify whether an alpha channel for transparency is present. You can also save the video as a sequence of Targa files, with or without an alpha channel.
