Autodesk Fusion Overview

Autodesk Fusion (formerly Fusion 360) is a powerful cloud-based system that integrates CAD, CAM, CAE, and PCB functions. It enables engineers and designers to complete the entire product development cycle in a single program: from creating solid and parametric 3D models to CNC programming, load simulation, and PCB design.

Installation

1. Unzip FusionPortable to any folder with write access, preferably C:/FusionPortable/
2. Run install_firewall.bat as administrator. When it loads, press the spacebar and wait for the network blocking script to run.
3. Run FusionPortableLauncher.exe. All data is stored in PortableData.

Notes

Autodesk Fusion Portable – works offline and indefinitely, without signing in or leaving registry entries

Where to get libraries :
For Electronics, local libraries of elements need to be imported as Personal Libs, they are located in
Code: FusionPortable\bin\Applications\Electron\LibEagle\examples\libraries\examples
You can also find other local import files there if the program doesn’t pick them up automatically.

What works/doesn’t work

The main goal of getting rid of the cloud was to make CAD functionality work offline, so if something doesn’t work except for modeling, it won’t work without the cloud.

What works:
– CAD: sketches, bodies, assemblies, drawings
– CAM (machining), Electronics
– Simulation, except Thermal and Plastic Molding
– Local rendering
– Export and import of files
What Doesn’t Work:
– Cloud Gallery (not saved between runs, don’t forget to export rendered content)
– Generative Design
– Any cloud sync/sharing/account login/etc.

Fusion Project Manager

FusionProjectManager is a Fusion project cache manager.
It allows you to view projects, folders, and files and perform operations on them.
IMPORTANT : Close Fusion before any operation (otherwise it will overwrite the cache).
Each write creates a backup copy of the cache (fpm-backups\).
